Dear Bob: There has come up here in New York the matter of the distribution of EDTA in connection with its use in lead poisoning. In Boston this material is in the hands of Dr. Harriet Hardy of the Massachusetts General Hospital who distributes it to qualified practitioners on demand. Manfred Bowditch is anxious to have EDTA available in the New York area and we have had a conference in which various pediatri cians, Norton Nelson, Manfred and I have participated. The idea is that the Institute of Industrial Medicine or I personally would act as the distributing agent in New York. All this seems clear enough except that Manfred received a letter from Dr. Robert H. Kotte of 1710 Madison Road, Cincinnati 6, stating that he has been informed that the use of EDTA or its com pounds in the treatment of lead poisoning in children is looked upon most unfavorably. He does not say what the source of his information may be. Dr. kQtte goes on to say that he would adopt a policy of being very cautious in the recommendation of EDTA or its compounds for use in lead poisoning in children.
