Benignus y OTFor-- I received a call from Art Koehrer, Purchasing, re garding the possibility that we could supply Union Electric with a mineral oil which they presently use for insulation purposes in lead sheath cable. Koehrer said they had been buying this oil from Mobil and Sun; however, both of the companies have discon tinued their production. The product from Mobil was described as "Mobileca"; he did not have a model number on the Sun material. These fluids were made to ASTM Specification D1040-65T and the title of the spec was "Inhibited Mineral Oil For Use in Transformers and Oil Circuit Breakers". It was priced at 67^/gallon and a typical year's pur chases was somewhere In the area of 50 drums, which was basically makeup to cable which had been filled on initial order from General Cable Corporation. The only lead they presently have is a fluid from a company in California which they are presently eval uating and It is selling for approximately $l/gallon. JJR:mwl J. J.
