As requested, Mr. Mark Kennedy followed this operation in the color room (23-C). His findings and experience were disappointing and frustrating to say the least. In spite of previous instructions and communications, this job was started (third time) without the necessary equipment and people awareness in place. Mr. Kennedy was reluctant to delay the project again, so he took last minute actions to personally acquire tape, labels, vacuum equipment, etc. and the job was started. Weighing was to continue today and Mark made special preparations this morning only to find out when he went to the job site that the operation had been postponed. Mark's experience and activities related to the project are summarized in the attached. Bill, I bring this to your attention as an example of the kinds of problems we've encountered. Asbestos particularly is a material which BFG risks serious liability if not handled properly, and with this experience I would suggest that we shouldn't be handling it at all. I think you will agree that despite mutual intentions, this job did not go as planned. Your thoughts on this matter would be most helpful as well as advice as to how we should handle future situations such as this.
