Hillman Date November 11, 1983 Subject : VCM EXPOSURE REDUCTION Attached is the revised class 'A* design to reduce the possibility of VCM overexposure from the vinyl recovery systems. Comments from the Novew&er 2 review meeting have been incorporated. The following changes have been made from the previous design: 1. Hard piping for utility flush water to drain lines and level gauges has been replaced with plugged bleeders for hose connections. 2. In the new module. Individual manual isolation valves for the vacuum pumps and compressors have been replaced with manual isolation valves on the inlet to the vacuum pumps and the outlet to the compressors. Steam and recovery bleeders will be added near these isolation valves for flushing and steam stripping the vacuum pumps and compres sors. 3. The bleeders for flushing and steaming the blowdown tank strainers will be located on the inlet to the strainers. 4. Dual pressure regulators will be installed on the flush water/steam supply line to the old and new module vacuum pumps and compressors to prevent overpressurlng the Bingham pump s.
