Why head
"Soaps"?
When White Lead combines with oil, a distinctive type of "soap" is formed. As shown in the photomicrograph, it is fi brous in structure, consisting of multiple projections radiat ing from a central core.
These formations intermesh and mechanically reinforce the paint film, giving it greater toughness, flexibility, adhesion and weather resistance.
WhiteLead's tendency to combine with oil also means readywet ting--and mixing and grinding ease.
