FORCE FLOW PACKER DUST CONTROL
The collection system design has been completed and all estimates received. The project and budget proposal has been issued for approval. The estimated start-up is 90 days after approval,
This system is designed to control dust emissions at the Force Flow Packer bagging and palletizing operations. It will replace the cyclone currently used for collection from the bagging operation.
BLEND TANK RINSING SYSTEM
The "Troll Ball" spray nozzle was tested and found to be inadequate leaving some areas untouched. Additional nozzles will be looked into for potential evaluation.
GASHOLDER pH TREATMENT
On March 17 the gasholder was treated with 1,200 pounds of soda ash. The pH before treatment was 6.3 and after was 11.2, The pH will continue to be monitored and treatment will be done as needed.
UKO TRAINING
B0R 013315
Four training sessions were given to J, Gagne this month on Stripping Column Operation.
Additional sessions are required and will be scheduled for April.
171C MOISTURE
Experience with 113R has shown that formulation adjustments can affect product dryability. With this in mind three PCR's were issued adjusting 171C formulation.
The results of these adjustments showed little or no improvement and indicated that extensive testing would be required to achieve the desired results,
During the last 171C run improved stripping methods were used and the average percent moisture for the run was approximately ,06, This makes the formulation adjustment trials rather academic and, therefore, this project is being dropped so that attention can be
given to more fruitful endeavors.
RECOVERY INHIBITOR SYSTEM
The system has been checked out and the spray nozzles for the two primary condensors were found to be plugged. Since access to these nozzles requires recovery equipment shutdown cleaning will have to be scheduled through production.
OTHER
The purchase order for a slurry transfer strainer exhaust system for VCM exposure control has been issued. The estimated start-up is three weeks after approval.
A permanent vacuum purge line was installed for blend tanks F403, 404, 405 and 406. This replaces the hose connections and reduced downtime associated with purging these vessels.
The cooling tower water return system from the recovery building was isolated form the building 7 return system. This eliminated the VCM contamination of the building 7 system and thereby reduced VCM background levels in this area.
The chemical addition pots in the recovery building were revised to eliminate personnel exposure to VCM while using this equipment.
The contractor pipefitters for project work were laid off on the 13th.
FUTURE OBJECTIVES
Investigate Improved Stripping Methods for 260C
Investigate 9' Dryer Capacity
Continued Operator Training
Recovery Inhibitor System Start-up
Gasholder Monitoring and Treatment
Reduce Compressor/Vacuum Pump Corrosion/Erosion
Evaluation of Alternate Blend Tank Rinsing Systems
