Fridman, Jr., who has been sampling our Plant since November today held subject meeting with our hourly employee #208 Jessie Williams, Mike Bottoms, Huey Haire and myself. He explained procedures that are to be followed if a citation does develop as a result of tests for respirable dust and total dust. The last sampling was February 5. He further explained that there were apparent violations in the respiratory protection program, and in asbestos users testing. 1910-134 - B1 No written standard. B3 Users not trained. B5 Respirators not cleaned and disinfected after use. B6 Respirators not stared in convenient sanitary location. BIO No medical determination of ability to use. 1910-1001 J3 Annual x-ray and pulmonary function test. Through cooperation with Employers, steps have been taken to remedy all of above. Fridman also made three observations for our consideration: .1 Employees used broom to clean up asbestos from floor. We have previously instructed, and today will reinstruct, employees to use the vacuum cleaner provided. .2 Vent dut on east end of FS 10 dry felt area does not seem effective. We will investigate this. 3. Hood over coater has 50 feet per minute air flow. We will investigate this. Mr. Fridman then had a fifteen minute private conference with Jessie Williams. flh. Fridman then told me that he had heard of a safety violation which he would have to report to another 0SHA section: We had a man lift elevator which had on occasion fallen.
