A er the discussions of the last REACH Cee I am quite certain that the COM will not revert from the targeted approach that they have proposed for this restric on. They have made clear that this is non-nego able, with the compromise that they will be including a reference to the other ongoing PFAS restric on ini a ves in the recitals. Therefore I am quite certain that the final proposal by the Commission will only have some minor amendments to the current text. As this targeted approach is very limited, and not in line with the CSS goals on PFAS, we think that this is a worrying precedent for the other PFAS restric ons. This approach could result in COM deciding to also go for a targeted scope for the other PFAS restric ons, which could severely delay the complete phase-out of PFAS. Because of these reasons we are proposing not to support the current proposal.

We have discussed a second dra restric on proposal of PFHxA several weeks ago at the REACH Cee, and today we have submi ed a second BE coordinated comment on this proposal (I will upload it to the BCR today s ll). Now we will have to wait for the next dra proposal by the Commission, which will most likely be the final dra as they are planning on having a vote on this restric on during the next REACH Cee in December (13-14/12), so normally we should get their final proposal rela vely soon so we can coordinate our vo ng posi on. I will upload the new proposal as soon as its available.
This would mean that normally this restric on will be voted before the Presidency starts. During the Presidency there are currently no other PFAS ini a ves pl d for the REACH Cee.
