TO: Rick Smith Interoffice Communication FROM: Tom Cgrumbles DATE: Augusit 10, 1984 SUBJ: PVC WARNING LABEL VISTA The OSHA VCM standard requires labeling FVC containers in the following manner: PVC: Contains Vinyl Chloride: Vinyl Chloride is a Cancer Suspect Agent. However, as you will see in the attached correspondence we now interpret this requirement to apply only to containers containing PVC with residual VCM (RVCM) levels that could cause worker exposures exceeding 0.5 ppm. Goodrich has done a great deal of technical work and had shown this RVCM level to be greater than 8.5 ppm. As a result, we are proceeding to remove labels from our containers, where RVCM levels are below 8.5 ppm. The attached correspondence should clarify our position and actions being taken.
