In attendance were Craig LeJeune (Scribe), Max Hekmat (Secretary), Mike Huber (Timekeeper), Nelson Peres, Mark Woodyear, and Ernie Parsons. Tha Mating proceeded according to the Agenda. Members of the teaa reported on their assignments. A list was provided for different units on clearing procedures. Individual comments are needed on these procedures so the appropriate equipment can be designed. These procedures have not addressed clearing tanks, even though auxiliary Per/Tri tanks are ready to bo used for clearing. The team decided to use EDC as a solvent for different reasons: 1. EDC is the purest product in the Plant. 2. There is no stabiliser to worry about. 3. It may also remove PCB's. The exposure to EDC was discussed, and it was decided to educate the employe s concerning exposure to EDC. This should include: 1. What employees can do to minimise any exposure. 2. What is exposure. 3. How they can be affected. 4. what type of protection is available; and, 5. How an employee would know whether or not he/she needs to protect him/herself. The following is the testing schedule and program: Steam Stripping A. Alumina drier at Per/Tri - needs to be inspected for thickness. B. Bottoms drier filter at WTU - phase organics came out first - elements cleaned - still phase organics was found in some parts - final reading showed 40 PPM SL 091649 2 Hot Mltrwn A. Primary strippar feed filter - no progress B * CaClj drier at EC - no progress c. Per/Tri still bottoms filter - no progress Piqqj.pq A. Par 208 lina to docks - it was piggad twiea. The concentration of Par-Chlor was aaasurad to ba 4000 PPM. Tha raasoa was said to ba a 15 foot daad lag op tha lina which trapped tha still liquid. Water Washing A. OHC Filter after Chloral treataent - no progress B. EC Heavies still - no progress Kelson Peres discussed the Vinyl Institute aeeting and pointed out the issues that PPG night be interested. At the conclusion of the aeeting, aasignaents were aade. 1. Continue the clearing testing, doeuaenting each activity and sending docuaents to Craig LeJeune. 2. Review the list provided on clearing procedures especially concentrating on the clearing concepts for each piece of equipaent. 3. Mark Woodyear will send tha equipaent list to teaa neabers. 4.
