Long oil isophthalic alkyds continue to show good durability in zinc-free house paint formulations* We have selected an 85 # linseed isophthalic alkyd and an 85 $ tall oil isophthalic alkyd to compare against our present alkyd house paint quality using V-869 and 05. Improved mildew resistance is expected with the isophthalic alkyds. Cab-O-Sil will aldo be tried in different amounts to improve mildew resistance. 2. Our work with Thixotrol (Baker Castor Oil additive to pro duce thixotropy) has produced a very easy brushing house paint primer. The paint is lead free and uses V-855 long oil alkyd and V-523 tung oil varnish. Two -500 gallon batches have been made in the plant under the code 1W124A.
