Dennis Miller did not appear at the report conference at the scheduled time. Consequently, Judge Bettman's bailiff contacted his office to determine whether or not someone from his office would be attending the conference. The bailiff was informed that Dennis Miller was on vacation but that, another attorney from his office would immediately come to Judge Bettman's court room. One of Dennis Miller's associates showed up at the report conference and then we met with Judge Bettman in chambers. Unfortunately, the attorney who appeared at the report conference had very little knowledge about the case and requested that the Court merely set the case for another report conference so that Dennis Miller could attend personally. Therefore, I was unable to discuss settlement with Dennis Miller. Judge Bettman stated that he would merely reset the case for another conference to be held in April.
