SUBJECT:
POLLUTION CONTROL MONTHLY REPORT FOR MAY 6 JUNE, 1982
Results are attached for fiber samples collected and analyzed during May and June. Due to the NIOSH School, use tests of CMC bound material, and additional CMC related lab work a report was not issued for May.
The T.W.A. of personnel samples during this period is extremely high 1.0 f/cc. A large protion of the high average can be attributed to a T.W.A. over the standards on the upper floor operator (7.8 f/cc). A letter Is being drafted to notify this individual of his overexposure. Talking with him, and reviewing sampling data the reason for this high fiber level- is not yet clear. Two other T.W.A.'s in the 1.0 f/cc concentration for this same job fall in approximate normal ranges.
A concentration of 1.11 f/cc T.W.A. was also recorded on the foreman at the export bagging plant. A number of short comings in the dust control system were discovered here during the use tests with CMC bound products. Priority should be olaced on these items at export:
1. Install 2 - 30" wall exhaustion fans on the west wall.
2. Seal around certain areas of the fill nozzle.
__
3. Provide a local exhaust ooint to caDture dust escaoinq the fill nozzle.
