1.0 Conforms: This material does not conform to any commercial specification.
2.0 Scope: This specification covers spiral wound metallic asbestos gas Ice ts for special applications.
3.0 Use: This material is primarily used as a pressure seal between tEe pump and outlet adaptor piece where fittings using 0-ring type seals are not available.
4.0 Processing: The gaskets shall be composed of a single strip of metal wound in a spiral dovetail shape starting on the inside and working outward ply by ply to the desired size. Between some of the plies shall be a cushion of asbestos paper, either a con tinuous single length or in two lengths depending upon the de sign. The asbestos paper may be either a single strip or two strips. Spot welds on the- gasket inside diameter shall be not less than three in number and approximately spaced at three inches maximum spacing. The outside weld shall consist of not less than three spot welds.

6.1 Metal Strip: The metal strip used in the gasket refills shall be of the following material:
ASTM A167 Class 316 L.
6.2 Metal Outer Ring: The metal outer ring shall be soft carbon steel.
