Buyck - Staff Project Engineer COMMENTS The above gentlemen are anxiously awaiting the Winchester report on their findings of 734-161 and 38-27E drum brake materials that were returned to them and Delco-Moraine for investigation. The parts were provided in an effort to establish differences between 1976 and 1979 parts that would account for pre-burnish rear wheel lockups occurring on 1980 certification cars. As soon as that report arrives, a formal report will be requested from Delco-Moraine so that it can be compared and then it is advised by the writer that a meeting be set up with these people to clear the air on both reports. Delivered at this time two carsets of 916-46 material which the writer received from Chevrolet Saginaw Manufacturing plant and experimental 12738. One set will be put on a general service car, another set on a durability car and then if things go well as far as lining,noise, pedal feel, etc. are concerned, additional material will be requested for 105 testing. They have been willing to accept this material for preliminary evaluation in the absence of any test data from Abex be it a Chase machine, FAST, dynamometer and/or vehicle. We continue to be successful in having our customers evaluate materials without even the most rudimentary information. L.
