Whittlesey DATP ust 20, 1979 PLAINTIFF'S EXHIBIT i DC-1163 i si t 17, 1979 Gentlemen: On August 17, 1979, thi .cxas City Plant was visited by an OSHA Compliance Officer as a result of an employee complaint. OSHA Industrial Hygienist, Alan Trivette, was met by A. P. Yalcinkaya at the reception area at 9:30 a.m. Shortly thereafter they were joined by R. J. Taylor, H. R. Schulz and Sam Munn, union represen tative, for the opening conference. Mr. Trivette stated that his intent was to investigate a complaint alleging that resin dust levels in the air at Solvent Vinyl Resins Drying Bldg. 121 are too high and questioning the use of proper respirators. He indicated . that he wished to visit the area and that he might wish to take photographs. Mr. Trivette reviewed our plant OSHA records. He inquired about and was given general information regarding plant health and safety programs, and enforcement of plant health and safety rules. He also requested and was provided a copy of the Plant Procedure I-C-7, Respiratory Protection Program. Mr. Trivette was then accompanied to Bldg. 121 where the group was joined by W. A. Mazzolini, Solvent Vinyl Resins Department Head, and M. E. Montague, plant photographer, for a tour of the facilities and an explanation of the process. On the second floor, the compliance officer collected a bulk sample of the resin powder to take with him. While in Bldg. 121 he held private conferences first with some maintenance men and then with a number of operators. He took no photographs during his visit. UCTC 20874 Mr. J. H. The Compliance Officer requested a copy of our most recent Industrial Hygiene monitoring data on dust levels in Bldg. 121. He stated that since the unit was not in full operation at the time of his visit, he wished to revisit the site during full capacity operation.
