Dear Dr. Kehoe: Attached hereto are copies of three letters which we recently received as follows: // ' From Phillips & Skinner, Jamestown, N. Y., dated January 22nd Liberty Mutual Insurance Co., Boston, Mass.,dated January 13th Walburn Petroleum Company, Hew York City, dated January 21st which are relative to possible alleged health troubles from Ethyl Gasoline. There does not seem to be anything particularly-' to investigate at the moment. Y.Te referred these letters to the Travelers Insurance Company who, as you know, have issued an insurance policy indemnifying us from any claims. They have advised us simply to acknowledge them, which we are doing today. They do not want us to give out any information until they have had an opportunity of investigating the situation. Of course, we would not attempt to answer any of them except with your advice, but they don't even want us to do it in that way for the time being. Mr. Webb has not seen these letters but I discussed them with him on the 'phone the other day while he was at Hew Orleans. ..He thinks in view of these three alleged claims and the Sullivan case, that it would be advisable for you to run some additional animal experiments, possibly in connection with eye injury and the spleen disease that is mentioned in these letters. I told him that I doubted if you had enough physical facilities to enter into a very elaborate program and, of course, we are going to submit to him your proposal for the ex pansion of these facilities upon his return but he replied that you might be able to give some consideration to it and start the work in a small way in the meantime. I will keep you advised as to what the Travelers wish us to do in regard to these cases and, meantime, if you would like to write us your opinion of them, it might save time. C:C
