Fritz Rufus Baca Howe attended PSMB and gave a status report for quarterly inspection. Program will kick off as planned with a bulletin board announcement (see attached). Exhibit 1 will announce inspection and Exhibit 2 will announce winners (best). 1983 Safety Committee roster is attached. Hammann will chair SHAC meeting next week. Conrad announced new guide lines for inspection awards. Small plaques will be given to winner each quarter (3 winners - 2 winners first quarter). Tromblee asked that SHAC decide on calendar program. Therefore, it was decided the Office Safety Committee will continue to handle program. Will print about 500 and available to anyone who needs one. SHAC will review at midyear. Drug and alcohol abuse program ideas were discussed. Probably educational program - Personnel to be involved in handling. Contract safety program and use of Monsanto facilities were discussed. Baca will scope needs and will solicit input via questionaire. Baca will research and review existing policies. Co-op cataloged about three years ago. Maintenance (H. Jackson) has the responsibility for maintaining records. Some were in poor location. Inspectors checked location last week and found 5-10 were in unacceptable locations. Hammann will notify the violators and handle as necessary. Hammann has results of questionaire on nitrogen backup but has not evaluated data. Will discuss with SHAC in two weeks. NEW BUSINESS There is a question regarding blinding safety practices regarding non-hazardous materials. Baca will investigate practice and bring data to SHAC for review in about two weeks. Howe and Conrad will research the bicycle policy issues and past recommendations and will bring data to SHAC for review in about two weeks. /do Attachments W. W.
