Missouri 83166 Phona. 014) 694-1000 February 17, 1972 We are writing to advise you that Monsanto has adopted certain policies with respect to the further sale and delivery of all polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB's) products including those sold under tradenames such as Aroclor^), Inerteen , Pyranol , and under the generic term askarel. Studies have indicated PCB's may be accumulating in the environment. In some instances PCB's have been found in food or in the food chain. Because of Monsanto's concern over this problem we have discontinued sales of PCB's in all applications except as dielectric fluids for use in transformers, capacitors, and other electrical equipment and components. In the past, Monsanto has sold these fluids direct to transformer component manufacturers and also to makers of insulation such as Kraft paper and plastic film who use only small amounts of the dielectric fluid for testing purposes. Monsanto has decided to discontinue such direct sales. For your future requirements of these dielectric fluids, we suggest you contact the Aroclor capacitor makers, or in the case of transformers contact the makers of the askarel types.
