DAVIS ASBESTOS DUST EXPOSURE Considerable publicity is being given in newspapers and magazines on OSHA regulations associated with exposure to asbestos dust. Our men have seen and worked with the man from Haskell Lab when he has visited Repauno to make test for asbestos exposure. I am sure that all of our insulators are becoming concerned over the effect that their work might have on their health. I have read a great deal of information on the subject, yet I must admit that I do not feel I have a real feel for the potential danger to my people. The insulation we are currently using on the site has a very limited amount of asbestos but I have no real feel over the potential hazard it might have for our employees. This is of real concern to me as the MJeC Superintendent. If I were an insulator, I would be extremely concerned about the potential effect on my health. Just the words "asbestosis" and "cancer" would strike a note of fear. Continually seeing articles on the dangers of asbestos and what OSHA is doing to protect employees would concern me. The visits by Haskell Lab personnel would pique my interest in the subject. I would feel that the Company should reassure me that I am not damaging my health. I would like to suggest that someone from HaskeJl Lab meet with MicC supervision with the idea of developing a talk to be given to our entire insulation crew. I believe such a talk would be most effective if presented by Haskell Lab to our people.I am sure our Insulators would appreciate our concern for their safety.
