Through a mistake in my arithmetic, we came to some erroneous conclusions about the performance of our plasticizer processes. The usage figures given you are correct, however, my quick calculation of percent of theory yield was incorrect. Recalculation for DOP shows that our Long Beach plant is achieving 98.5$ on phthalic anhydride and essentially 100$ on alcohol. Looking at more recent experience at Long Beach, the yield is in the 98-99$ range on alcohol. Naturally, there is some suspicion about the 100$ figure above. At Everett, the yields correctly calculated are approxi mately 6$ on both phthalic and alflphol for 1965. Ex perience to date in 1966 shows botn yields to be in the 96-97$ range. Thus, we are doing better than I originally thought. We certainly are interested in your new decolorization technique and have already thought of a number of places where it may be beneficial.
