HARRY KALEY Dr. Dillard Machie Dear Bill: If vie follow the thoughts expressed in your letter of July 15, with regard to the demonstration in the General Motors Building at the Vforld's Fair, it Till mean that they will give up the fuel dem onstration entirely. This demonstration is quite a lot different from the ones which we ordinarily run in the field, and I am sure that they would not be willing to reviss it to the extent of making the demon stration on treated gasoline rather than handling the tetramethyl lead. It seemed to me that Mr. Goltz had gotten around most of the objections which came to us originally and I amwondering since the Fair has only about two months to run, whether we should arbitrar ily ask General Motors to give up the demonstration which has been a fairly costly thing for them to equip. . Your letter is very definite and to the point on this sub ject, and I assure you that we intend to be guided by your opinion of what constitutes a definite potential hazard. On the other hand, I honestly feel that the continuance of the demonstration for sixty days could be accomplished in a safe manner. For that reason, I amasking for your further consideration of the matter. After you review these facts, if you still feel the same, just let me know and we will call the whole thing off* In the meantime, I amgoing to ask our HewYork Division to mako another investigation and determine whether all of our sugges tions Tiers put into effect.
