Materials/Methods (Aquatic SQ('-T02) prepared as a l^'ing/Sntock^oTutlor^nHaskelTLaboratory well water, placed Into 5-liter aquaria, and diluted with laboratory well water to yield the desired nominal exposure concentrations In 4 liter final volumes (12-cm liquid depth). Two 1denticalivessels containing only laboratory well water were designated as the H^Ocohtrols. Chemical stability of the test material In well water was not determined. Ten juvenile, unsexed fathead; ml nnows (Pimephales promelas) from Hasken-bred stock with a 1.6 cm mean standard length (range 1.2 to 1.8 cm) and 0.046 g mean wet weight (range 0.015 to 0.078 g) were randomly placed In the test vessels, two test vessels per' concentration. Loading was 0.12 g ftsh/L. Fathead minnows are Identifier by labeling the culture and test vessels. The fish were maintained at Haskejn Laboratory for approximately 163 days, with the last 110 days In a 272-liter Fiberglas tank (84-cm in diameter by about 49-cm liquid depth) before being used for this test. Holding temperature was within 3C of testing temperature throughout the holding period. The dissolved oxygen concentration during acclimatization was assumed to be at or near saturation because air was continuously bubbled through the water. No treatment of the fish for diseases was required during the holding period. Fish were not fed for approximately 72 hours prior to nor during the exposure. The test solutions! were not aerated, and temperature was maintained between 21.7C an4 22.6C. Photoperiod was maintained at 16 hours 11ght:8 hours dark. Mortality counts and observations were made approximately every 24 hours during the 96-hour exposure period. Dissolved oxygen and pH were .measured in the IU) control and in the low, medium, and high test concentrations at the beginning of the test and at approximately 24-hour intervals during the 96-hour exposure period. Total alkalinity, hardness (EDTA), and conductivity were measured at the beginning of the test in the HnO control.
