DeBernardi Date October 17, 1980 Subject Advisory Committee Meeting - September 10, 1980 At the end of the third quarter our plant safety statistics show 14 injuries have occurred, two requiring medical attention and 12 requiring first-aid treatment. These numbers continue to indicate that our plant goal for 1980, to limit total injuries to 20 of which five would require medical treatment, is still well within our grasp. The plant turnaround we are now involved in will prove to be the key factor in attainment of our objective of making 1980 the safest year in the history of the VCM Plant. Continued effort re lated to safe work planning by each plant employee will lead to attainment of the objective. Sales projections for VCM and PVC the remainder of the year, although far from rosey, appear to have stabilized. Our operating rate is projected to be in the 1.6 - 1.8 MM lbs. per day rate. The economic downturn now being experienced in our export market areas indicates we will not be making any more overseas shipments in 1980. We are not projecting the need to shut down the plant again this year for inventory control as we did in July. Work related to the plant expansion project is still on schedule. The review of the Chemicals Division 1981 Proposed Capital Expenditure Budget by Conoco Inc. Board of Directors will take place in November. Following this review we will know if our plant expansion will be approved to move forward in 1981.
