Attached is an additional report received iron Don Phipps that contains some of the additional information, which you requested from him during the time that you mere in Jacksonville. You v/ill note that hr. Phipps indicates that Glover had become ill although he seemingly is 'veil again. If there are any arrangements v/hich you v/ish us to make for Clover to be examined, we, of course, will be ?lad to make there. hr. rhipps also mentioned the fact that four of the men have not been reached due to the fact that they were temporary employees, located at Tampa. It so happens that I have reed to be in Florida next week and if it is convenient for you to prepare your report so that it will reach me at the Tampa Terrace hotel by Wednes day morning of next week, it will save me an extra trip. Costello Bear Joe, This lias reference to our long distance telephone conversation on the 14th, regarding the tank cleanings conducted hy the Orange State Oil Company at their Tampa terminal this past December. Attached is a memorandum furnished me by Mr. R. W. Van Brunt, Secretary of the Orange State Oil Company, listing the names of the men working in tank No. 201 in Tampa, the dates on which this work was carried on, and the number of ' hours worked by each employee^. Regarding the last paragraph of this memorandum, these records have been checked and found to be correct. For several days after working in this tank Mr. Earl F. Glover, Constrxuction Foreman, lost his voice and could hardly speak above a whisper, he was nauseated and felt like he was taking a cold, which never* developed. Mr. Glover feels well now, and stated that he has recovered from the illness which he ex perienced due to his being engaged in this tank cleaning. Mr. H. N. Glover, Construction Engineeg and I spent Friday morning searching for Mr. R. H. Cato, who lives at 1013 N.W.' 34th Avenue, Miami, Florida. We located Mr. Cato and learned from him that he had not suffered any ill effects due to his work in Tampa. He stated that he was never nauseated, was not nervous, had a good appetite, slept well, had no hallucinations and felt good in general. The remaining four men who were engaged in this tank cleaning ` were colored, and were employed in Tampa as temporary employees. I have an appointment with Mr. H. N. Glover in Tampa Tuesday, at which time we will attempt to locate these other four men ana learn the status of their health. As soon as this has been accomplished I will furnish you with this additional information. Regarding Mr. Rosser's letter of the 8th, the number of the tank that was used for spiking in Tampa has been changed from No. 102 to No. 201. Kille, Manager Miami Claim Division of the Maryland Casualty Company, 220 Seybold Building, Miami, Florida, regarding t b e f l ^ p ^ c a s e . The insurance company is holding up any final action in this case until they receive Dr. Kehoe's report. Mr. J. Alton Douglas, Manager, Jacksonville .Claim Division of the Maryland Casualty Company, Atlantic National Bank Annex, Jacksonville Florida, has also had some part in the investigation of this case. The heme office of the Maryland Casualty Company is located in Baltimore. Dr. Frederick Oetjen, 211 E. Forsyth Street, Jacksonville, Florida, acts as their^dva^sor here. Mr. Van Brunt told me that t h e ^ J ^ ^ b e e n advised that the local Doctors have persuaded family not to enter suit until Dr. Kehoe*s report i ^ r e c e i ^ a , and not then unless absolutely necessary. If this information is not sufficient, and you should desire more please advise. The cleaning instruction cards that were furnished me by Mr. McCooley will be posted at the following Orange State ` terminals: Miami, Biver Plant and Fisher Island; Jacksonville; Tampa and Sanford.
