No. 339 June 9, 1955 TITANIUM PIGMENT CORPORATION CHANGES ANNOUNCED W. H. Woods has been appointed general sales manager of Titanium Figment Corporation, succeeding K. W. Ericson, who retired on June 1 after twenty-five years of service. Earl W. Diener has been named assistant general sales manager, and Harold L. Jungmann sales manager - eastern district. Mr. Ericson started with Titanium Pigment Corporation in 1930 as a sales representative. In 1940, when he was in charge of sales in the Chicago area, Mr. Ericson was appointed western sales manager. He became general sales manager of the corporation in 1950. Mr. EricBon is past president of the Chicago Paint, Varnish and Lacquer Association. Mr. Woods began his National Lead Company career In 1930 with the Atlantic Branch. He was transferred to Titanium Pigment Corporation in 1937 as assistant credit manager, becoming credit manager in 1940, He was appointed eastern sales manager in 1948 and in 1950 he was transferred to Chicago as western sales manager. Mr. Diener has been eastern sales .manager since 1953* He Joined the company in 1937 as a Titanium Pigment representative in the Philadelphia territory. In 19*1-3 he was placed in charge of the New England territory and in 1950 he was appointed a district sales manager. Mr. Jungmann has been assistant to the general sales manager of Titanium Pigment Corporation since 1948. He has been with the company since 1924, starting at the St. Louis plant. He was transferred to the sales department, and in 1940 moved to Chicago as office manager of the western sales office of Titanium Pigment. Following are several geographical reapportionments of territories for Titanium Pigment Corporation representatives: Wyatt Schoonmaker will continue as sales manager - middle Atlantic district, maintaining his present headquarters in Philadelphia. Fred R* Hodgson has been appointed sales manager - north central district, the district consisting of the area formerly supervised by Mr. Hodgson but enlarged to include Michigan and the Fittsburgh-Buffalo areas. Mr. Hodgson's headquarters will remain in Cleveland. Norman E. Olson has been appointed sales manager - central western district, the district consisting of the Chicago area, middle western states, and south central states including Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. Mr. Olson's headquarters will remain in Chicago. Edwin G. Burling has been appointed sales manager - western district, the district consisting of the Pacific Coast area formerly supervised by Mr. Burling but enlarged to include additional western states. Mr. Burling will continue his present headquarters in Los Angeles. Mark G. Magnusan, formerly sales representative in the Cleveland area, will be in charge of sales in the South Atlantic states with headquarters in Atlanta. On May IT, 1955# the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit sitting in San. Francisco handed down a decision holding that Bernard M. Wolfe and Frederick J. Dannenfelser, doing business as Dutch Paint Company, had in using the words "Dutch", "Dutch Paint" aid "Dutch Paint Company" infringed National Lead Company's "DUTCH BOY" trade-mark and had practiced unfair competition. Accordingly, the Court granted National Lead Company an injunction and held that National Lead Company was entitled to an accounting for profits and damages. PACIFIC COAST BRANCH SALESMAN RECEIVES SALES AWARD Frank M. O'Connor, Pacific Coast Branch salesman, has received the "Sammy" Award of the Los Angeles Sales Executive Club as one of the top ten salesmen in the Los Angeles area for 1954. The ten winners were selected from 500 leading business firms throughout the Southern California territory. Mr. O'Connor was employed at the Pacific Coast Branch in 1939 BAROID DIVISION APPOINTS TWO TO NEW POSITIONS Dr. John W. Jordan has been appointed director of the Beroid Division research and development laboratories, and Daniel R. H. Mahoney becomes chief engineer Of the division. Dr. Jordan was granted the National Lefid Company Fellowship with the Mellon Institute in 194-1 and served in that capacity until his promotion in 1951 to the position of manager of Beroid's research laboratory. Mr. Mahoney is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy. His past employment includes engineering and consulting experience with Truman Wayne and Associates, Houston, and he was resident engineer for the Jefferson Lake Sulphur Company prior to employment with Baroid last year. A. C. HASKELL ELECTED CHAIRMAN OF SCIENTIFIC GROUP A. C.
