Myers * ate December 31, 1974 Originating Dept. -jTOXXX^X<X*XXXKX!X "Calidria" Asbestos Answering leiief date Subject Recent Incidents - OSHA Inspections . of "Calidria" Customers Over the past several months there have been five separate instances where our customers have reported what appears to be overzealous application of the asbestos regulations by OSHA inspectors. We are now putting the picture together in order to consult with our legal people to assess what action may be appropriate. The attached sheet is a check list of the information we would like to have on each case so the situation can be discussed factually. It is fully recognized that this is a sensitive subject with the customer. Accordingly it is suggested that you compare the list with the information you have already provided and probe gently with the customer to get the missing facts. Don't start fresh with a long list and scare him. If he's balky, back off, don't press. He will also have to have some trust in us to be discreet with what he provides. In connection with this problem you should be aware that noise, silica, and CO regulations by OSHA, in much the same format as the asbestos regulations, are expected within months. This may encourage the customer to stand up and be counted now. I am going to be out of the office until January 13. It would be very much appreciated if you could have your information into me by that time. HBRimlv Attachments A086 1 1 UCC 014076 OSHA INSPECTION INFORMATION 1. The name and location of the plant inspected. 2. The date of the inspection. 3. The inspector's name. 4. Is the inspector representing the State or Federal Government? This can be confusing since a number of states have State inspectors enforcing the Federal OSHA regulations. It is important to know this so we know what office we should talk to. 5. Was a citation actually issued? If so, for what? Be as specific as you can. A copy, even with their name and identification blanked out would be helpful. 6. Details of any statements made by the inspector regarding removal of asbestos or complience requirements. A086 i 2 UCC 014077
