Asbestos Caution Labels
location location date

This memo is in response to your letter dated June 3, 1974 concerning the above subject. (ft
I appreciate your concern over the changes in the asbestos caution labels; however, oar attorneys are also deeply concerned over recent findings of asbestosia in vorkers in the construction Industry which is a result of working with joint system products. The new wording for the caution labels is in compliance with. OSHA regulations. The face that the wording, "Respirator Protaction Required When Sanding1' vaa added will only give ua^ additional protection if any liability threat* are made against our products. Our sales' effort should not be affected, as the implication of Ch OSHA wording is to wear a respirator while working with these products anyway.
Ton asked if we as Georgia-Pacific representatives are in a position to recommend the type of approved respirators to be used to our customers. I feel we- should be prepared to answer and discuee any questions dealing with our products. If we can give assistance to our customers as to what types of respirators are approved by OSHA, I see nothing wrong in doing so.
I sm enclosing a copy of the Occupational Safety and Health Standards which deals with the subject for your reference if you do not already have a copy.
If I can be of further assistance in clarifying this matter for you, please contact me.
