As a result, sales requirements have been reduced to a level that require operation of only one of Monsanto's two Aroclor producing units (Anniston 8 W. G. Krummrich). The W. G. Krummrich Aroclor facility was selected for the continued production of Aroclors due to: 1. age of facility 2. presence of a fractionation column which produces a more biodegradeable product 3. waste treatment capability 4. geographical location in relation to customers The Anniston unit is idle and no further use for the facilities by Monsanto is forseen. Monsanto is negotiating with prospective buyers for the sale of a number of equipment items. Leaving the unit in-place affords a showcase which will facilitate efforts should a disposal opportunity develop. The Aroclor facilities at Anniston should be retired now since they are no longer in operation.
