I have not yet been able to talk to Dr. Robock, but I am sure he is already fully informed on this and I sincerely hope that he will point out the danger of this approach.
I believe that we should somehow let the institutions con cerned know that Tarkett is regularly buying fibre from us, as I have mentioned in my today's telex, and that this cam paign' is mainly beinq started in order to introduce their fibre glass mat flooring line. This is not particularly mentioned but the content of the letter demands a reaction of the authorities in this direction.
As already outlined, Tarkett is presently buying their full fibre glass mat requirements from Schuller, I am not able to determine the exact square metres or prices. However, bv approaching .Schuller, we should ae t the info we need. This also applies to samples, althouqh I think that this matter has already been examined in Research when we examined fibre glass mat versus asbestos fibre latex felt as backing materials.
I believe that this is a serious matter, since it can hurt the flooring .industry. T have distributed conies of Tarkett's letter to the flooring manufacturers, to which we havo contact. Tarkett have their own Sales Office in Germany; I do not know whether this also applies to other countries. It must be presumed that this approach will be chosen in all those countries, where Tarkett is interested in selling their floorinq. This certainly refers to all Scandinavian countries, as well as to the Benelux, whereas France is questionable, duo to the distance.
I am most interested to learn the comments of your meeting with Dr. Robock and what the reaction from this end will be.
