CONSTRUCTION DIVISION - AIRBORNE DUST SAMPLING
Per my letter of April 5 1968 we forwarded to you information
ry
regarding asbestos dust health hazards as well as the policy
initiated in the Construction Division to control and administer
personnel air sampling of work areas involving insulation material
Please find enclosed additional information regarding the personnel
air sampling program to be initiated J. une 1 1968 at all Construction
Division work locations
Example A is a general outline of the dust sampling program
Example B is an outline with instructions on the operation of
Model 440 Unico asbestos dust sampler

Example C is a sample of the statistical work sheet recording information pertaining to the sample being taken
The samples are being submitted to Dr. Morton Corn Dean of the
School of Occupational Health University of Pittsburgh for a
quantitative analysis
Each sample will be analyzed for particle
total
count below 5 micron particle count above 5 micron and
dust
count The count will be made by phase light microscopic analysis
We will keep you advised of the results of this program which is
being conducted each month in the Construction Division
