SGP 0026463 BESTWAU GYPSUM WALLBQARD PRODUCTS APPLICATION DATA AND ACCESSORIES JOINT SYSTEM PRODUCTS Bestwall Joint System Products are designed to conceal joints and nail heads. All have easy working characteristics and very low shrinkage. Used in recommended joint treat ments, they literally surface weld Bestwall Gypsum Wallboard panels together, providing smooth, uninterrupted walls with |omts as strong as wallboard itself. Instructions are included on each container. Bestwall Embossed Tape--Embossed for full width, includ ing skived edges and center creased, this tape has excellent bonding qualities. It achieves good porosity and rapid drying of joint adhesive. Stabilized against varying humidity conditions, it reduces uneven expansion and edge wrinkling. Bestwall Joint System Compound--A plasticized adhesive used for both bedding and topping Bestwall Tape and for spotting nail heads. Sanding is eliminated. Bestwall Bedding Compound--Designed to provide maxi mum adhesion to the joints. It spreads smoothly. Bestwall Topping Compound--Used for finishing taped joints and spotting nail heads. Sanding is unnecessary. JOINT TREATMENT SPECIFICATIONS Scope: All walls and ceiling surfaces are included. Furnish all labor and material necessary to reinforce and conceal joints between gypsum wallboards and cover nail heads in a first-class workmanship mariner. Materials: 1. One-Material Treatment--Bestwall Joint Sys tem Compound (used for both bedding and for spotting nail heads). 2. Two-Material Treatment -- Bestwall Bedding Compound, Bestwall Topping Compound. Spe cially designed for use on large projects. Reinforcing Tape: Bestwall Embossed Tape. Joint Work: Apply Bestwall Joint System or Bestwall Bed ding Compound to taper edge joints, end joints and nail heads. Shear off surplus, leaving no material on high edges. Allow 12 hours drying before taping, leaving uniform depth of taper for uniform shrinkage of joint finishes over and under tapes. Apply Joint System Compound or Bedding Compound and embed tape leaving uniform thickness of material under tape. If Bestwall center taper Gypsum Wallboard is used on ceilings embed tape in center taper. Wht.i Joint System Compound or Bedding Compound has whitened (surface dry) cover taped joint with Joint System Compound or Topping Compound. Shear off surplus leaving uniform coverage over tape with edges well feathered. Joint System Compound or Bedding Compound under tape and first coverage of tape with Topping Compound must be thoroughly dry before further treatment. Cover joints second time with Joint System Compound or Topping Compound. Shear off surplus leaving smooth, well feathered joint. For best results and more uniform suction, apply skim coat of Joint System Compound or Topping Compound over entire surface. Shear off tight in lieu of third application to joints only. Decorating: Gypsum wallboard properly prepared can be decorated with any treatment ordinarily used for walls or ceilings. Surface shall be sealed with vinyl or pigmented varnish primer before decoration, including texture. Where skim coat has been used, a one coat paint application is satisfactory. Laminating Compound: Bestwall Laminating Compound is 3 casein base dry powder product requiring addition of W3ter only. Add 25 lbs. of Laminating Compound to 9% Sal. of water (2V4 lbs. per one gal.). Consistency of the mixed material should be such that when spread over gyp sum board with a 12" serrated sheet metal blade having notches y," wide, y,*" high, y," o.c., it will not self-level, "ibbons of glue may be applied with serrated knife or mechanical glue spreader. Coverage is approximately 16 lbs. per one thousand sq. ft. INSTALLATION ACCESSORIES BESTWALL METAL CORNERS AND METAL CASINGS Most Bestwall Metal Corners and Metal Casings are made of .018" gauge hot-galvanized steel, knurled and perforated for maximum cement and paint adhesion. They provide straight corners and low-cost neat wall closures for uncased openings. Nails may be driven through board into studs, jambs or headers. Some casings may be naileU first and wallboard slipped into place, Typical accessories are shown below. 100, DL-100 and DLL-100 METAL CORNER-- Stronger, more accurate external wallboard corners.
