Also included is the permissible heat exposure threshold limit values as recommended by the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists. A few explanations are needed to clarify the TLV table: 1. Heavy work (as defined) is rarely encountered; most work is light to moderate. 2. For the work-rest regimen percentage, it is assumed that the same WBGT temperature exists. If the rest area is cooler the body needs less time to return to normal. 3. Normal temperatures (ambient) during the summer averages over 86F WBGT. 4. The workers are well acclimatized.. 5. Fresh cold water is available at all work locations. 6. The workers are allowed to pace themselves and take breaks as needed. 7. We have never had a recorded case of heat exhaustion or any other dispensary case directly related to heat. 8. In this area we normally have winds which average in speed above 10 MPH. Under these conditions the removal of the solar load does much to make the workplace more comfortable.
