Samples were taken of; 1. Mineral Wool debris left at the waste heat boiler site. 2. Black Mastic on the flue to waste heat boiler. Based on my observation of the black mastic not containing cloth nor mud as a binder, it probably does not contain asbestos. The sample should be back Monday for verification. 1 would like to have the material cleaned up at the waste heat boiler site. Because it is falling off on the one side, it would be to our interest to remove that section for housekeeping purposes. The insulator shall take precautions and follow asbestos procedures because verification of the material has not been received. The following procedures should be adhered to based on consultant requirements for removal. Materials which contain non-friable black mastic. 1. Set up barrier tape and warning signs. 2. Place plastic strategically so that material will remain within the staging area. Should a manlift be used, containment can be established with the confines of the basket. 3. Use wet methods to remove material. 4. Hepa vacuum should be used for cleanup and employee decontamination procedures. Employees shall wear double tyvex suites, removing outer contaminated clothing at the site. Employee shall shower following ASARCO procedures. 5. Dispose of PACM and contaminated protective clothing in accordance with regulations. Materials which contain non-friable mastic with mud binder. 1. Set up barrier tape and warning signs. 2.
