Probably a call once or twice a week if you guys think appropriate. I've been in direct contact with the Minister in Aus, and will be speaking with his senior staffer (Cosi) who is the lead from their side on Monday night. Also, Jim Carouso, the Charge at the US Emb in Canberra is a close personal friend and would likely have good inputs, but I want to wait a bit before I contact him. But by next week you should have all the inputs and can decide how best to proceed. Also, I believe that there will be a large CODEL in the country at the same time. Will try to get some more granularity - R and D from the Senate, across committee jurisdictions. Just let me know if a sitdown would be useful. Or another call. One initial step would be to get a better sense of the current US Australian environmental agreements that are currently in place and whether they should be changed or updated or canceled and replaced with others. It would also be relatively easy to put together a joint advisory task force on environmental issues thus creating a new mechanism for ongoing discussions.
