PURPOSE The purposeof thisstudyistodetamiinedw toxicitoyf PerfluorooctanSeulfonicAcid,Potass' Salt(h=after refen-odtoasPFOS) toduckweed, Lenma gibba G3, understatitcestconditions.
EXPERIMENTAL
DESIGN
Frondsof duckweed,Lemna gibba G3, willbe evwed to a geometricserieosf atleastsixtest
concentrationasnd a negative(mdt= medimn) controlforsevendays.Nominal testconcentrationwsillbe
chosen in consultatiownith theSponsor based upon informationsuch as rangefindingtoxicitdyata,known
toxicityinformationorpbysicaychcmicalpropertiesofPFOS. . Targetconcentrationwsillnotexceed 100
mg/L or thesolubilitlyimitofthetestsubstancein water. Generally,each concentratioonf PFOS used in
the definitivteestwiU be atleast50% of the next highertreatinm@unlessinformationconcerningffic
concentration-effeccutrve indicatetshata differendtilutionfactorwould be more appropriate.
Uniform,healthylookmg plantswillbe removed from thestockculturefortesting.Five plants totauingapproximately15 fim& willbe added toeach testchamber.
