The /meeting; was concerned:': with ;a discussion of the progress of
the environmental ^
through June 15. During this
period Phases I and II had been completed and Phase III had been
in progress for 12 days. The environmental findings to date were
: reviewed and summarised. The data to date .showed. -t h e ;following

The particulate lead picture was also reviewed and
that in Phases I and II, the particulate matter was
total lead present. The few samples thus far available indicated that the particulate matter was about 15^ of t-he ^ f ' "
This was higher than expected and was thought to be due ~to th- '
poor ventilation during Phase III operation as compared with* thr-
good rates of ventilation which were encountered for the Phase I and Phase II periods.
The, average/concentrations of particulate matter in the air, as
determined from the tapes of the A.I.S.I. smoke sampler, were found
to be 5.2 and 6.1 micrograms/M3 for Phase I and Phase II operations
respectively. Phase III tapes had not been analyzed by the time
of this meeting.

There then followed a discussion on the biological samples and the
reasons for sending them to Cincinnati. Cal. Research people felt
thatthere.was-too long a lag in receipt of reports and, after
considerable discussion and a conference with Dr. Kehoe by telephone,
it was agreed that:

, 1. Biological specimens from Phase III work be pushed ahead
; so that "last i n ,! samples are,analyzed first. These

samples will be shipped by air-mail in the future.

2. Sufficient samples from Phase IT be included so that "a: continuous and^orderly record of results can b obtained.
