I have no doubt that the News will have an editorial policy which will be above criticism. On the other hand, I want to take this occasion while there Is time to make a very specific request. Censorship of the press is against m y principles In the main, and I do nofc. propose to set myself u p in the capacity of a censor. On the other hand, this Is an organization paper which, though It will presumably receive its chief circulation among the members of the staff of the Corporation, will nevertheless be seen b y others. But to do away with flippancy, it must be recognized that the Medical Department bears a rather odd relationship to this laboratory, and that this laboratory bears a relation ship to the Corporation which must be handled with some delicacy, 1 feel, therein?e, that any reference to either the Medical Department or to this laboratory should be handled In such a way that there will be no occasion for criticism or regret. May I suggest, therefore, that any such reference be submitted to me for approval before appearing in print. Actually it is equally as necessary that there should be no misunderstanding on the part of the general staff of the Corporation as it Is that outsiders should not be, so to speak, misinformed.
