Schuttenhelm I From: |_# R0gers Subject: Revjsec| OSHA Asbestos Label As a part of the June 20, 1986 revision to 29 CFR 1910, we will be required to change the 1973 OSHA CAUTION label now imprinted on our cartons and pallets used for asbestos-type products to the new OSHA DANGER label reproduced below: ; DANGER CONTAINS ASBESTOS FIBERS AVOID CREATING DUST CANCER AND LUNG DISEASE HAZARD As CFR 1910, 1200 (f) of OSHA's Hazard Communication does not supply ( the size of either the label or type, I recommend that you direct your carton suppliers to immediately procure new printing plates which will provide imprints of approximately the same size as those now displayed on the containers currently being furnished. As the new regulations are silent on the changeover date for the new label, the effective date could be interpreted to be 7/21/86! So, rapid action is necessary to show that BFMD has attempted to follow the new regulations with all due speed. We may have to purchase new DANGER labels to cover the present WARNING labels on cartons in inventory after "x" date, but that information is not yet determined.
