la 1959 an x-ray survey of all Zoaolite employeee at Libby was carried cut \nder Vita. little, M.D., (Radiologist), of Kalispell, Montana, and Janes Cains, M.D., of Libby, in uiusually high incidence, (apprcodnately 1/f), of basilar fibrosis was fauid in this series.
This survey was repeated this year, after a meeting of the local doctors and Libby Zanoilto administration, it this nesting, the consensus of local medical opinion vss that a important Increased incidence of chronic resplratozy disease existed in Zonollte employees vho had prolonged exposure to dust.
As a result of this, I suggested and offered to carry out studies of lag fraction by respiratory capacity measure ments, to bo compered with lag pathology as measured by the x-ray swvey.
The x-ray swcnaxy has been completed and films reed by IS*. Little, Including cceperlsOnj with the films of 1959* Total and timed respiratory capacity studies have been completed ader ny supervision end % standards coeputed cn the eeployees. I have bega enalysle of rosulte end ccrrolatlcn with x-ray findings.
In sy opinion the c.: alysis of date so far obtained should ba earriad out to a stage-of reeecnable clinical eoeplateness beeausa preliminary analysis shows distinct sad important change in respiratory faction and pathology.

Daar Hr. Kelley,
In 1959 an x-ray survey of all ZonoUte employees at Libby was carried out rader Vfta. Little, M.D., (Radiologist), of Jalispell, Montana, and Janes Cairns, M.D., of Libby, in unusually high Incidence, (approximately l/^)> of basilar fibrosis was found la this series.
This survey was repeated this year, after a meeting of the local doctors and Libby Zenoilte administration. it this meeting, the consensus of local medical opinion was that an important Increased Incidence of chronic respiratory disease existed In ZonoUte employees vho had prolonged exposure to dust.
As a result of this, I suggested and offered to carry out studies of lung fraction by respiratory capacity measure ments, to be compared with lmg pathology as measured by the x-ray survey.
The x-ray snrmnary has been completed aid films reed by IT. Little, Including comparisons with the films of 1959. Total and timed respiratory capacity studies have been completed under rry supervision and % standards computed an the enployees. I have begra analysis of results and cerrelaticn with x-ray findings.
In sy opinion the tialysis of data so far obtained should be carried cut to a stage-of reasonable clinical cccpleteness because preliminary analysis shows distinct and Important change In respiratory fraction and pathology.
