Che following hazards ore associated With the production of oar mineral hoard
1 Dermatitis - Inflammation of the skin.
2. Mechanical irritation - Redness of the akin.
3 Asbeatosis, - (alight) long disease caused by inhaling asbestos, dust. Um Sllleoeis - (possible) long disease censed by inhaling dost c-f stone,
sand or flint.
Our best line of defense, against the above haserds are effective dost oontrol and careful selection of personnel which met be done through tried end error because of.the type of hazard.
Che Safety Committoo will meet on Wednesday, September 23, 1959 and at that time, aubjaat to your approval, ve will ask them.to recommend the following
regulations for employees working-with mineral board!

Wear long sleeve shirts,'
Wear gloves.
Use protective cream on exposed skin. Use Murine eye drops to counteract eye irritation. Take a shower and change clothes after work. Staployees who use sir for aleanlng or work in dusty areas must
use goggles and respirators. Immediately report to your foreman with the first evidenoe of skin irritation.
The above hazards and recommendations resulted from our own experience# corres pondence, end conversation with the following: Baldwin - Hill Company, .national
Safety Council, and Dr. Monaerud*.
Dr. Monnarud also recommended that permanent employees working in dusty areas be given annual chest X-rays to cheek on aabostosis' and silicosis.
Within the past month, ve have had six cases of skin irritation and five cases of dermatitis which we have not acoanted as yet. There may be other cases vhich have not been brought to my attention.
