No. 328 February 25, 1954 SATHRE SUCCEEDS FREIHERR AS- ATLANTIC BRANCH METAL DIVISION MANAGER George Sathre has been appointed manager of the Atlantic Branch metal division, succeeding Henry F. Freiherr, who retires on March 1. Mr. Freiherr began his Company career in 1917 as manager of the lined products department of United Lead Company. When United Lead became part of National Lead in 1928, he was transferred to the metal division of the Atlantic Branch. In 1938 he went to the Baltimore Branch as manager and ten years later returned to the Atlantic Branch as manager of the metal division. Mr. Sathre has been manager of the metal division of the Cleveland Branch since 1950. He joined the Company at Cleveland in 1942 as a salesman and in 1947 he was appointed metal sales manager of the branch. SNEDECOR NAMED ASSISTANT TO MANAGER, TITANIUM ALLOT MANUFACTURING DIVISION Frank B. Snedecor has been appointed assistant to the manager, Titanium Alloy Manufacturing Division. He continues as comptroller of the division. Mr. Snedecor joined the Company in 1944 as a General Office auditor and became comptroller of Titanium Alloy in 1951. N0TZ0N APPOINTED COMPTROLLER, TEXAS MINING AND SMELTING DIVISION Claude Notzon has been appointed comptroller of the Texas Mining and Smelting Division. Mr. Notzon began his Company employment in 1945 and became traffic and purchasing assistant at the Texas Mining and Smelting Division two years later. He then became successively an accountant, assistant office manager and assistant comptroller of the division, before his present appointment. MASCHKE NAMED TRADE SALES SUPERVISOR AT CLEVELAND Walter R. Maschke has been appointed trade sales supervisor of the Cleveland Branch. Mr. Maschke started his employment with the Company in 1947 as a paint salesman. Before coming to National Lead, he served several years in the sales department of Proctor & Gamble Company. JAMES J. LYNCH OF PERTH AMBOY PLANT RETIRES James J. lynch, superintendent of the paints and pigments warehouse at the Perth Amboy plant, has retired after 33 years of Company service. Mr. Lynch joined National Lead at the Jewett plant in 1921 and went to the Atlantic plant in Brooklyn in 1929. In 1934 he became assistant superintendent of that plant and superintendent the following year. He was transferred to Perth Amboy in 1951.
