PFAS Restriction
Handling of References
10.05.2021 RN: 721 65/03.00854-R
Background/Proposal It was agreed at the last monthly meeting that it would be helpful to start collecting and sharing of literature and references as early as possible to make full and efficient use of the information available. A systematic compilation of all literature available would be preferential.
Also for the compilation of the Annex XV restriction report references need to be collected and used in a systematic manner. It was agreed to make use of Endnote for this purpose.
Therefore, the German CA offers to collect all references available in the different MSCAs/institutions involved in this process and to compile them into one large Endnote database. This database can then be shared via CIRCABC and the entries will be searchable, e.g. for certain keywords. The database will be updated with new references on a regular basis. The process for this and some important points to consider are outlined below.
Initial collection of references References/Literature you already have collected regardless of the format (e.g. pdf documents, excel tables, word files, existing endnote databases, etc.) should be uploaded to the dedicated folder on SCIRCABC: https://webgate.ec.europa.eu/s-circabc/w/browse/04dd1e9a-df87-4b3c-bf9c754e925df17b. We have created sub-folders for the different work packages where you can share your information with us.
Creation of the Endnote database The BfR will compile the available literature into a single Endnote database. During this process, duplicates will be identified and removed.
For each entry, an abstract summarising the information contained in that reference will be included, if available. In addition, each reference will be assigned to the relevant work package(s) of the PFAS restriction by adding the respective WP as a keyword. By this, we hope to ensure searchability of the database if you are interested in literature on a certain topic. Addition of further keywords could be considered/discussed.
Sharing of the Endnote database The DE CA will share the Endnote database via the dedicated folder on S-CIRCABC: https://webgate.ec.europa.eu/s-circabc/w/browse/04dd1e9a-df87-4b3c-bf9c-754e925df17b. You can download it from there for local use on your computer/in your institute.
Please note that any changes you might make to any of the entries in the database, or any addition of new references will only exist in your local database and not maintained once an updated database is provided. For information on how to proceed in such cases see below.
Updating the Endnote database Updating of the database will be necessary
1. if there are errors in existing entries
In this case, if you come across any errors in existing entries, please contact us by sending an
email to
(cc
and
2. if new entries/references should be added
Please contact us by email as above and/or upload the respective piece of literature to the
dedicated folder on S-CIRCABC.
The database will then be updated and an updated version circulated via S-CIRCABC on a regular basis (tbd).
