Hi all, sorry to ping you when we're almost to the weekend; I'm working on a story about this PFAS summit and more broadly the big challenges at the moment on drinking water. I've got a handful of questions, the crux of them are below, although it might be easier to talk them through if it'd be possible to get one of your water office folks on the phone on Monday. My deadline is mid-day Monday, but I could probably convince my editors to push it back if we could schedule an interview.
Let me know what you think and give me a ring on my cell if you want to discuss:
- What groups or individuals, in addition to the states, were invited to the PFAS summit? - ECOS' quote in EPA's press release touches on the need for a regulatory determination. Is a regulatory determination under consideration for PFAS, and if so, for which chemicals? - Has EPA decided not to issue health advisories? Several members of associations that OW officials have spoken to recently have told me they were told the agency has decided to stop issuing them - I am wondering if this is true. - How does the administrator square his commitment to drinking water, and specifically the ongoing work outlined in the press release for PFAS, with the president's budget's proposed cuts to research focusing on contaminants and drinking water? - What are the agency's next steps on lead? Will there be tangible actions coming out of the recent President's Task Force meeting? How does the administration view the challenges around calling for full lead line replacement under the Lead & Copper Rule?
Best, Annie
