I have put some thought on the matter and wrote Phil Drinker to inquire whether he plans to get in or get out of the field. I am enclosing a copy of his reply. Inasmuch as this is such a timely matter and so important to the future of AIHA the suggestion in Phil's last paragraph really appeals to me. Why not invite Peterson, Sappington and Drinker to attend either the opening part of our board of directors meeting April 9th, or else arrive for a one hour session, say around eight or nine o'clock and present their plans or proposals. We could withhold our comments until after these gentlemen had been excused from the meeting. I have no idea of what Mr. Cloud plana to and know nothing about the AUA plans. I think there is much in favor of continuing the Journal of Industrial Hygiene and Toxicology, and because of past experiences, I am a little wary of a medical journal as a place to publish information involving chemical technology, plant surveys or engineering information. I do feel, however, that the members of the AIHA board of directors should be acquainted with all of the facts so that we can try to intelligently arrive at the best solution to the problem. We may not be able to reach a decision at Chicago, but if we get all angles of the problem before us that should at least be a start in the right direction. By the way, we have placed you on the program for a ten to fifteen minute address at the opening of our joint session Wednesday morning, and to represent AIHA as chairman for the Wednesday afternoon joint session. I hope that both of these, shall I say, "assignments" will be acceptable. After absorbing so much of Florida's ultraviolet you should be in the pink of condition and welcome these little chores.
