Please accept ray apology for my ineptitude. I find the summary sent with your letter to be an interesting view of the possibilities for difficulty and in my opinion it is quite reasonable. I am by no raeaan certain that it is comprehensive, and I am net unduly impressed by the argument favorable to letting the cargo disintegrate slowly and gradually. I probably need not tell you that I know nothing about the possibilities for salvaging ouch a cargo, but I hope to find out as much as I can. Frankly, in considering the significance or in significance of the thousands of materials that ar being dumped into the sea by one means or another, I an not happy about our -apparent helpless ness and our (at least my) ignorance. I shall seek, somewhat discreetly, to gain some enlightnent. It seems to me that 3uch a costly cargo as this and a number of others cfwhich I have some knowleaege, would justify the cast of a considerable effort of salvage, and I'd like to be a gsaat deal surer than I am that no such salgage is indicated.
