Ad Strong, I&iser Cement plant superintendent, used color films and graphs to- tell the inspiring story of the Kaiser's relentless drive to eradicate air pollution at the Cushenbeiiy plant Thursday at [ the Chamber of Commerce luncheon at the Country Kitchen. ' Kaiser engineers haw. taken active steps- to eradicate dust emissions, in every step of the plant's operation, ranging `from the taking of raw material from the quarry to the packaging of cement and gypsum for delivery by trucks and trains. Strong told the Chamber of Commerce members. - Currently, the engineers are working, on the elimination of a hazy steam emission that occasionally rises from a -portion of the plant. The latter emission is not considered serious by the County Air Pollution officials, but Kaiser staffers are determined to eliminate this factor that shows up on cold winter moms. ' Ad. told the Chamber that Kaiser has expended a million dollars on equipment and installation of smog-elimination equipment at CUsheribetry.
