L, Jordan Ethyl Gasoline Corporation Chrysler Building New York City New York Dear Mr, Jordans Last week I was In Watertown, New York, testifying In the case of Mrs before the State Industrial Commission* wnc^SWHH^^ a claim, that the death of her husband was due to lead poisoning. The facts in the case are rather clear and I shall not go into the details except to indicate that death was due to natural causes* On the other hand, a new factor was introduced into the testimony in that it was shown that a tank of gasoline was mixed with Ethyl Fluid by a representative of the Ethyl Gasoline Corporation in Ogdensburg. New York, in 1932, The testimony was introduoed in such a way as to inject the supposition that __ ,who was in and about the pump house during :he period of mixture, was exposed to the vapors of Ethyl Fluid in more or less concentrated form as the mixing material went through the pump house, I was able to testify as to the general character of the procedure but naturally my testimony could not settle the actual facts as to the manner in which this ^ob was done at Ogdensburg, The referee, therefore, stated that in his opinion it wculd be entirely necessary to determine the actual manner of mixing through the testimony of the man who actually did the work, if that is possible. Mr, Maxwell, an attorney of the Socony Vacuum Company, will be getting in touch with you, if he has not done so already, to try to find out who did this work and what information can be supplied by Ethyl Gasoline Corporation in the form of records, or any other in forma tion, I told Mr, Maxwell to see you because I thought this was probably done under your direction although it may have been done under Boudreau*s direction. In any case, I hope we shall be able to determine who did the mixing, how it was done, etc. There are a number of facts in the matter which I think might well be reviewed by me before they are madd use of, I have no wish to color in any way the testimony of any one of our representatives or the facts as revealed by any records which we may have. On the other hand, the referee is veyy poorly informed 2 about this whole situation, and I know pretty well what questions he has In his mind which must be settled by the testimony* 1 should think it advisable, there fore, if we had some correspondence or discussion about this question after we have located the man who did the mixing.
