As I have not heard from you on this matter, I am writing to inquire if there is any additional information that you need in order to enable Esso Chemical Canada to make its decision concern ing application for membership in the Institute. I know that you called my office recently in my absence, and I wish to confirm that membership fees would be pro-rated for the remaining portion of the fiscal year should your company decide to join prior to the end of the current fiscal year, which is May 31, 1991. The purpose of his call was to a) tell you that Esso is extremely interested in becoming a member b) to inquire about dues, billing cycles, etc. I told him what the membership procedure is, i.e., application procedure, review by committee of Exec. Board and final vote by Exec. Bd. at the following meeting (which I told him the schedule of). Also, I told him that thee yearly dues is $20,000 for this category of membership, and that assessments are sent out in the beginning and midway through the fiscal year. His question is, if they made an application to join the VI during the fall (and it was considered at the December meeting) with membership effective on January 1, 1991 ------ which I gather fits into their corporate budgeting cycle^-r would they be billed for just h of the dues, $10,000, or some other rate. I told him that I thought the answer with you.
