My samplers were placed about IS inches above the open door on top of the tank while asbestos was being dumped into the tank. The tank exhaust system was operating normally. It is my understanding that the door on top of the tank is normally closed during the time asbestos is being blown in, so the condition under which I sampled (with the door open) was a "worst" condition. There was no visible discharge of asbestos dust out of the tank opening. The name of the operator at the time of sampling was Jin Plesher, Badge_23251. Jim was wearing a 3M type mask. The results of the tests, which were analyzed by the School of 'Public Health at the University of California at Berkeley, were: Sample Volume Fibers/ml ' Sample FSP Sample trT? 87 liters 68 liters 0.23 0.12 These values are considerably below the threshold limit value of S fibers/nl and demonstrate what can be accomplished by good local- exhaust ventilation.
